Track Champions Crowned at Rolling Plains Motor Speedway!

Cruisers started the night off with one heat race, Clint Gilmore won that race. Starting the feature was a front row of Clint Gilmore and Dylan Pfeifer, Gilmore led the first lap of the twelve lap feature. At the halfway point Gilmore had a big lead over second place running Dakota Bliss. Point leader Matt Ramsey was able to get to the third place by the end of the feature but fell to fourth on the final lap, but there was no stopping Clint Gilmore who led flag to flag to win the feature. Second was Dakota Bliss, third was Dylan Pfeifer, fourth was Matt Ramsey and Dalton Bell rounded out the top five. Hard chargers in the event were Dakota Bliss and Matt Ramsey who both picked up two spots each! Your track champion in the cruisers class was the duo of Matt Ramsey and Shaun Woods.

Kiowa Higdon celebrates his IMCA sport compact feature win, and track championship!

Sport compacts were second on the program with three heat races, Callee Gaston, Rileigh Flohrs and Branston Arnder Jr winning those races. The front row of their feature was Callee Gaston and Kaishen Brack, Gaston led early but on lap one, Cam Adams went for a roll in turns three and four to bring out a red flag, he got out of the car under his own power. Gaston led the field to an originial restart, but caution came out right away as Connor Schwien, Remington Cox, Kenny Schmidt and Zack McLaughlin all collected each other down the backstretch. A third attempt at the start would ensue, with Kiowa Higdon using the top side of the raceway to grab the lead on lap one. Numerous side by side battles would break out behind Higdon the current point leader was pulling away. At the halfway point the top five was Kiowa Higdon, Dave Kappel, Callee Gaston, Branston Arnder Jr, and Kaishen Brack. Kiowa Higdon went on to win the feature along with the track championship. Second was Dave Kappel, third was Callee Gaston, fourth was Branston Arnder Jr, and Stephen Stiteler finished fifth. Hard charger in the event was Stephen Stiteler who picked up twelve spots after starting last in the feature, other nice runs included Dave Kappel up ten spots, Kiowa Higdon up nine spots and Kyle Mortensen up seven spots.

Hobby stocks were third on the program with three heat races, Morgan Olmstead, Cody Williams, and Zach Olmstead all picked up wins. The feature started with a front row of Cole Schulte and Morgan Olmstead, and Morgan Olmstead jumped to an early lead, meanwhile a whole pack was battling for second place. A five-wide battle broke out in the early laps, caution came out on lap four for a Hayden Kelly spin down the backstretch. Off the restart Morgan Olmstead would lead, over hard charging Cody Williams and Zach Olmstead. Tyler Heath also threw his hat into the top five. At the halfway point Cody Williams took the lead over Morgan Olmstead, who slipped to third as his brother Zach got by him. Hayden Kelly went for a spin down the backstretch on lap eleven. Cody Williams brought the field back to life with nine laps to go, Zach Olmstead would try to find a way around but caution came out for a spin in turn two with eight laps to go. Caution came out with six laps to go as Jamie Hart stopped on the track with a flat tire. Brennen Nech and Taylor Croisant collided in turn four to bring out another caution. With six to go Cody Williams led the field to a restart and would start walking away from the Olmstead brothers. Caution came out for Jake Wharton on the last lap, and the field would restart with one lap to go. Cody Williams held on to win, second was Morgan Olmstead, Zach Olmstead was third, fourth was Tyler Heath and fifth was Deric Funk. Hard charger in the event was Dion Priddy who picked up nine spots, other nice runs included Cody Williams picking up eight spots and Zach Olmstead picking up seven spots! Your 2023 hobby stock track champion was Zach Olmstead out of Overton, Nebraska!

Tyler Watts celebrates his IMCA sport mod feature win and track championship!

Sport mods were fourth on the program with two heat races, where Blaine Walt and Jack Kirchoff picked up wins. The feature started with a front row of Brendyn Nordyke and Jack Kirchoff, Brendyn Nordyke took the early race lead, meanwhile a four car battle broke out for second as Jack Kirchoff got to second. Tyler Watts jumped to third place on lap three, but Maughlin crossed him back over to get the spot at the line. Caution came out on lap three as Sam McCune stopped in turn three, Nordyke would restart the field. Brianna Maughlin would wreck, after Chad Dolan spun her in turn three, Maughlin collected Patrick Donovan and Tristian Mikesell. Nordyke led the field to a restart and Tyler Watts would lead lap four, but caution came out as Peter Kullman went for a spin in turn three. After five laps Tyler Watts led over Blaine Walt and Brendyn Nordyke. The field would single file out and at the halfway point Blaine Walt found himself to the back bumper of Tyler Watts. Watts and Walt held almost a five second lead over third place Brendyn Nordyke with seven laps to go. Chad Dolan rebounded from an early incident to get to fifth place with six laps to go. Peter Kullman went for a spin in turn three with five laps to go, and his night was over. That would set up a late race restart and put Walt and Nordyke right behind track champion Tyler Watts. Side by side off the restart as Blaine Walt would look to win the feature, with four laps to go they both were wide by side, as Walt slid across Watts nose out of turn four to grab the lead with three laps to go. With two laps to go Watts threw a slider in three but Walt crossed him over. On the final lap Tyler Watts threw one more slider in turns three and four and Walt was unable to cross him over. Tyler Watts won the feature, and track championship. Second was Blaine Walt, third was Chad Dolan, fourth was Brendyn Nordyke and fifth was Ryan Kirchoff. Hard charger was Preston Donovan who picked up nine spots, other nice runs included Blaine Walt and Trevor Schmidt both picking up six spots each, and Tyler Watts picked up five spots.

The stock cars were fifth on the program with Kyle Pfeifer winning the only heat race, the front row of the feature started with Troy Burkhart and Jason Rogers. Troy Burkhart would hold the early lead, meanwhile track champion Tathan Burkhart shot to third and looked underneath second place running Jason Rogers. After five laps Troy still lead over his son Tathan. Rogers was sitting in third and trying to get back by Tathan, at the halfway point Troy still led. With five laps to go Tathan started closing in on his dad Troy for the race win. White flag would fly for the Burkharts as they were side by side, but it was Troy picking up the feature win, second was Tathan Burkhart, third was Jason Rogers, fourth was Kyle Pfeifer and fifth was David Murray Jr. Hard charger in the event was Tathan Burkhart who gained two spots while on his way to win his track championship!

Modifieds closed out the show and ran two heat races, with Cody Gearhart and Clay Sellard picking up the wins. The front row of the feature started with Chad Sterling and Tim Watts, a four wide battle would break out early for second place, meanwhile Tim Watts was scooting away with the lead on lap one. Caution came out however, as Jason Ward spins in turn four. Brett Smith would lead off the restart, but quickly Clay Sellard found his way to the lead at the line. Caution came out as Don Geist, Cody Gearhart and Dylan Sherfick all wrecked in turn two. Geist would be able to continue, but Sherfick and Gearhart's nights were over. Clay Sellard would bring the field to a restart with twelve laps to go, Dakota Sproul found some speed on the top side off the restart, and would start to close the gap to race leader Clay Sellard. After five laps Sellard still led over Sproul, Daniel Gottshalk, Brett Smith and Jake Nightingale. At the halfway point the top five remained the same, but Dakota Sproul was right on Sellard's bumper looking for a way around. The field would single file out in the closing laps, as Sellard was able to pull away from Sproul to grab the feature win. Second was Dakota Sproul, third was Daniel Gottschalk, fourth was Jake Nightingale, and Brett Smith rounded out the top five. Hard chargers in the event were Clay Sellard and Don Geist who both picked up seven spots, Jason Ward and KC Mullin also had nice runs picking up five spots each. Despite getting caught up in an early wreck, Dylan Sherfick held good points lead to pick up the track championship.
