Throwdown In Madtown

The fifteenth meeting between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers is just a bit away. Historically the Badgers have straight dominated this series, winning ten of the fourteen matchups so far. Wisconsin comes in at seven and three on the season, ranked nineteenth in the country. Nebraska comes in at three and seven on the season. Nebraska has had what appears to be a down year, but the Cornhuskers have played well, and hung in against the toughest Big Ten opponents, they just haven’t been able to finish games. The Badgers started the season slowly, and the play of quarterback Graham Mertz has been interesting to say the least.

Looking at Nebraska, football means everything, for a state that has no professional sports teams. Walking through Lincoln, all you can see is Nebraska red, and their fans are easily some of the most passionate in the world. From the bone chilling tunnel walk, to the thrill of watching Nebraska football, there is a lot of fun being a Nebraska fan. But there is also some heartbreak as the program seems stuck in a rut currently. Scott Frost made some big changes as he fired four offensive coaches including the offensive coordinator, Frost is hopeful that the changes he made can attempt to salvage the season.

For Wisconsin it is go time, and the Badger state knows how to rally around their football teams. Madison is a great place to be, a party town and the fans love jumping around historic Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers can reach the Big Ten title game with a win today and a win against Minnesota. After the slow start to the season, there was questions about Wisconsin being able to get to the title game, but a major shift in momentum led by one of the fiercest defenses, has changed the outlook for the Badgers. The rushing game has been great for the Badgers, no surprise there. Quarterback play has been kinda shaky, but Mertz is young and still striving to be the best player he can be.

Expect a good game, it will be one of those classic Big Ten throwdowns, as Nebraska has a lot of fight and nothing to lose, and Wisconsin is looking to get one step closer to a conference title game.
