Moneyman Wins the Final Night, and Track Champions Were Decided

08/13/2021 The 2021 season came to a close on Friday Night with the five classes crowning their track champions. It was an exciting night of racing, to end an exciting year. Throughout the year we were blessed to see good racing and great battles. We saw an amazing last corner pass in one of the early sport mod races, we also saw how mechanical failures could change the course of a race. We saw dominance out of Blaine Walt and Brady Bencken, and we also saw great improvement out of rookies Tathan Burkhart and Brianna Maughlin. Tathan Burkhart also battled strongly with Jason Rogers all year, in a battle of a rookie versus a top veteran of the class. We saw a local fan favorite return, in Doug Holzmeister. We saw Dylan Sherfick put together a solid season in the modfieds, and in sport compacts we saw a thrilling points battle that ended in a tie between Billy Turner and Ted Trumbo. There was also a fair share of on track incidents, and sometimes tempers were flared, but that is racing. We were blessed to enjoy racing at a great track all season, that was prepped well, and for the most part Mother Nature cooperated throughout the season. Now on to the results of Friday's racing action, which featured sixty-five entries, sport compacts had ten, sport mods had seven, stocks had twenty-two, hobby stocks had fourteen, and mods had twelve. The sport compacts were the first class to hit the track, they ran two six lap heat races. The first one went to Ted Trumbo, and was a bit eventful as there was an early caution involving Zach Cardwell, Colin Ridder, and Kiowa Higdon. Ridder and Higdon retired from the heat race, Zach continued the rest of the heat race. Madison Reed finished second. The second heat race went to Gage Porter who took the lead in the closing laps from Otto Schutte who finished third, Billy Turner finished second. The twelve lap feature started with a front row of Otto Schutte and Kaishen Brack, and Schutte led the first lap, but on the second lap Ted Trumbo gained the lead, and started sailing off into the sunset to record his second win at TCS on the year. Turner second, and third went to Schutte. The hard charger were Ted Trumbo, Billy Turner and Kyle Mortensen who all picked up three spots. With the way the heat races and the feature played out there was a tie between Billy Turner and Ted Trumbo, but Trumbo with his two feature wins, claimed his first track championship. But then Blaine Walt got by on the third lap, and he never looked back cruising to his fifth TCS win on the year. Maughlin finished second, and Fabrizius finished third. The hard charger was Walt who went from fifth to first. The absence of Adam Weber, combined with Walt's dominant night, easily led him to the track championship. Angel Munoz led the first lap of the second heat race, but then Chris Oliver and Nick Tubbs got around him and battled side by side for the remainder of the heat race, Tubbs went on to win it, and in that heat race we saw Barrett Wagoner charge from seventh to third. The third heat race went to Anthony Rhoades, who started on the pole and led every lap. The twenty lap feature, that had a field of twenty-two cars, started with a front row of Anthony Rhoades and Angel Munoz. Munoz led the first four laps and on lap five Ondre Rexford started battling with Munoz, but Munoz however won the battle and ran away with the feature win. The feature was very exciting as for the most part the whole field stayed relatively close to each other and provided exciting racing.
