Familiar Names Take Night 1!

One hundred and forty-four race teams checked into RPM Speedway for the first night of the 13th Annual Sunflower Classic. Visiting victory lane were John Martinez in the sport compacts, Zach Olmstead in the hobby stocks, Brandon Spanjer in the sport mod, Kyle Pfeifer in the stock cars and Dakota Sproul in the modifieds. 

Martinez Capitalizes on Late Restart to Score Compact Victory 

The sport compacts started the show with two heat races won by John Martinez and Jake Schwien. Their main event started with a front row of Rileigh Flohrs and Kaishen Brack, quickly Jake Schwien found his way to the front and would lead several laps, later on Flohrs suffered a steering rack failure that set up a late race restart. John Martinez got by on the restart and went on to win the feature. Second was Kyle Mortensen, third was Jake Schwien, fourth was Conner Schwien and fifth was Zack McLaughlin. Hard charger in the event was John Martinez who gained nine spots.

Olmstead Survives Hobby Mayhem 

The hobby stocks ran second on the night, their heat races were won by Zach Olmstead, Dillon Richards, Cody Williams, and Chad Wulf. Their two b-mains were won by Dylan Bell and Tyler Heath. Their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of Brayden Hurley and Konner Mikesell; Hurley appeared to have the best car as he led the caution filled event. A late race restart saw Morgan Olmstead make heavy contact with Hurley coming out of turn four, sending him into the wall, meanwhile Zach Olmstead snuck by for the race lead. The event was called at nine laps after exceeding time limits, track officials decided to shorten the event, Zach Olmstead picked up his first win of the season. Second was Dylan Bell, third was Dillon Thompson, fourth was Tristan Grape and fifth was Chad Wulf. Hard chargers in the event were Justin Yutterman and Dylan Feik who gained thirteen spots each, other nice runs included Dylan Bell, Hayden Ogorzolka, and James Love all up eleven spots each.

Spanjer Best in Sport Mods! 

The sport mods ran third on the program, they ran three heat races won by Dylan Cherry, Conner Barnes and Noah Speicher, their two b-mains were won by Riley Osantowski and Ryan Kirchoff. Their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of Noah Speicher and Brandon Spanjer, the duo battled closely throughout the event, with Spanjer outdueling the competition in the closing laps. Brandon Spanjer picked up the feature win, second was Connor Barnes, third was Arie Schouten, fourth was Carson Lang, and fifth was Trevin Frye. Hard charger in the event was Cody Gearhart who gained fifteen spots, other nice runs included Riley Osantowski up seven spots, and Jacob Olmstead up five spots.

Pfeifer Holds Off Wisconsin Star in Stock Car Battle! 

The stock cars ran fourth on the program, they ran three heat races won by Troy Burkhart, Cole Czarneski and Brett Berry, their two b-mains were won by Kyle Pfeifer and Kolby Stegman. Their twenty-lap main event featured a front row of Austin Carter and Tyler Tipton, but it did not take very long for Kyle Pfeifer and Cole Czarneski to find the front of the field, and when they did so, they put on a show as the pair battled closely and cleanly throughout the event. Kyle Pfeifer came out on top as he grabbed his first win of the season, second went to Cole Czarneski, third went to Troy Burkhart, fourth was Johnny Yutterman, and fifth was Tyler Tipton. Hard charger in the event was Kyle Pfeifer who gained twelve spots en route to the win, other nice runs included Kolby Stegman up seven spots, rookie Hunter Smith up six spots, and Justin Yutterman up five spots.

Sproul Fastest in Mod Action! 

The modifieds closed out the program, with four heat races won by Dylan Sherfick, Dakota Sproul, Brett Berry and Clay Sellard. Their two b-mains were won by Kyle Rohleder and Matt Bonine. Their twenty-lap main event featured a front row of Dakota Sproul and Cole Czarneski, Sproul took an early lead and appeared dominant as the field never caught him, even lapped traffic did not slow down a very locked in Sproul. Dakota Sproul won his first race of the season, second was Cole Czarneski, third was Tanner Black, fourth was Clay Sellard and fifth was Brett Berry. Hard chargers in the event were Clay Sellard and Brent Fielder who gained seven spots each, other nice runs included Clay Money up six spots, and Drew Miller up five spots.
