By: Sheldon Wickwar

Kyle Rohleder kept up his summer winning ways, as the fall season came upon us, Rohleder found victory last night during night one of the 35th Annual Flatlanders Fall Classic in Goodland, Kansas. Seventy-nine race teams checked into the Sherman County Speedway, joining Rohleder in victory lane were Blaine Walt in the sport mod, Troy Burkhart in the stock car, Cody Williams in the hobby stock and Gage Porter in the sport compacts.

The sport compacts started the show off, with a heat race won by Gage Porter and the feature won by Gage Porter after he got around Connor Schwien late in the feature.

The sport mods ran three heat races won by Cody Williams, Blaine Walt and Brendyn Nordkye. Their twenty-lap feature event started with a front row of Josh Barnhart and Blaine Walt, Walt jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, a caution with six laps to go allowed Hunter Smith to close in on Walt. Smith could not get by Walt, who was solid and fast all night long, meanwhile Kamren Gruber and Brianna Maughlin moved throughout the field after starting tenth and seventeenth. Blaine Walt picked up the win, second was Hunter Smith, third was Kamren Gruber, fourth was Adam Weber and fifth was Brianna Maughlin. Hard charger in the event was Brianna Maughlin who picked up twelve spots, other nice runs included Chris Brannam up eleven spots, Brady Skrdlant up ten spots, Austin Johnson up eight spots, Kamren Gruber up seven spots, while Dalton Bell, and Newt Lujan both gained six spots each.

The hobby stocks ran three heat races won by Cody Williams, Brady Bencken and William Doudney. Their twenty-lap feature event started with a front row of Hayden Ogorzolka and Bingston Rogers, Cody Williams quickly found the lead and led the first lap, caution came out for debris on lap two. Cody Williams restarted the field and led until lap ten when Kyle Cook spun down the backstretch. Williams restarted the field and led the remainder. Lap ninteen saw a red flag as Tyler Willis went for a roll in turns one and two, he was able to walk away from the incident. Williams survived a green, white, checkered to pick up the win. Throughout the feature Mike Kennedy, Justin Yutterman and Kyle Cook were able to move and gain positions, Cook rebounding from an early spin. Cody Williams picked up the win, his thirty-first win of the season, second was Mike Kennedy, third was William Doudney, fourth was Justin Yutterman, and fifth was Allen Snethen. Hard charger in the event was Kyle Cook who gained tweleve spots, other nice runs included Mike Kennedy up nine spots, Justin Yutterman up eight spots, rookie Ted Trumbo up three spots and Cody Williams up two spots.

The stock cars ran three heat races won by Johnny Yutterman, Tyler Tipton, and Jason Rogers. Their twenty-lap feature event started with a front row of Eric Munoz, and Quinton Yutterman, Munoz grabbed the early race lead, caution came out on lap two as Kolby Stegman spun, meanwhile his father Keith had pulled off. Munoz led off the restart but on lap four Jason Rogers took the lead away. Rogers stretched out the lead until lap seven when Cole Younger got turned around in three and four from contact from another driver, to bring out the event's second caution. Rogers and Troy Burkhart ran side-by-side off the restart, but it was the "Gentle Giant" coming out on top. Troy Burkhart picked up the race win, Tyler Tipton finished second, third was Doug Holzmeister, fourth was Jeff Tubbs and fifth was Quinton Yutterman. Hard charger in the event was Charlie Cook who gained nine spots, other nice runs included Doug Holzmeister up eight spots, and Troy Burkhart up seven spots.

The modifieds ran three heat races won by Greg Gustus, Kyle Rohleder and Don Geist. Their twenty-lap feature event started with a front row of Marshal Hoppe and Trevor Geist, Trevor gained the early race lead and led until lap three. Lap three saw a multi-car pileup as Marshal Hoppe, Danny Keller, Don Geist, Lloyd Stover, Grant Florence, Lane Linthacum, and Anthony Rhoades. Ending the night for Hoppe, Stover, Geist and Florence. Trevor Geist restarted the field but in turns one and two, Rohleder sped by to take the race lead. There was no catching the zero machine again, as Rohleder was flawless through lapped traffic, holding a steady lead. Kyle Rohleder went on to win the feature, second was Greg Gustus, third was Trevor Geist, fourth was Eddie Belec and fifth was Nick Link. Anthony Rhoades rebounded from that early pileup to finish sixth. Hard chargers in the event were Kyle Rohleder, Mike Bainter, and Lane Linthacum who all grabbed five spot each.
